Hey there!
So, long story, short: I broke my femoral neck (bone in your upper thigh). How did that happen and how on earth does this relate to my blog, are probably the main questions your asking yourself right now.
Well, the answer to your first question is: I don’t know. I don’t have a clue how on earth I managed to break a bone without falling over or having anything hit me, but I did. The result of my injury was then that I couldn’t walk for the past two weeks. I initially got diagnosed a torn muscle as this specific fracture is very rare for young people. However, the day before Christmas Eve I finally got the right diagnosis and I ended up having to spend Christmas Eve in hospital, getting surgery.
And now, how does this relate to my blog? Do I want to write a review about hospital food? Nope. Do I want to share a recipe I got inspired to make while in hospital? Nope.
Well, I’ve got to walk on crutches for 6 weeks, yes 6 weeks, 24 days, 1 and a half months. Fortunately the first week has already gone by, so there’s ‘only’ 5 weeks left.
And now here’s the connection between my blog and me walking on crutches. I cannot cook, take pictures or carry things while having to walk on crutches, because, well my hands are holding onto crutches. So how on earth should I carry my bowl from the kitchen to my dinner table, then put up the lights and take a picture. Especially top-shots would be hardly achievable as I can’t climb on a chair. So here’s the big problem aka the connection between my injury and my blog: I cannot cook or take pictures for 6 frigin weeks.
This would be totally ok if this blog wasn’t also my biggest hobby and if I wasn’t working on my book that is coming out in autumn 2017. I am supposed to be shooting recipes now. I am not supposed to be sitting around. Of course I’m also pretty annoyed at the fact that I cannot run for 3 months. You might not know this about me but I love running, I am a proud member and crew runner of Adidas Runners Zurich , which is seriously the best community. Like for real if you love running: join your local AR crew and if you’re from Zurich, join us!! Well I won’t be there for the next three months but I’ll sure be back asap.
When the doctors first told me about what my injury actually was I was completely destroyed, I was balling my eyes out and the situation felt incredibly overwhelming.
There were so many questions popping up in my head.
Will I get finished with my cook book?
How will I get to work when I can’t take photos ( I work as a food photographer for a Zurich based start-up)?
How am I going to be able to pay my rent if I can’t go to work?
Will I have to move back to my mum’s place?
Will I have to quit blogging?
Will I get to maintain my Instagram?
Will anyone still want my book if I can’t post for 6 weeks.
After the initial shock period answers started popping up in my head.
Of course I am going to get finished with my book. I am incredibly ambitious and when I want to do get something done I am gonna get it done! That’s me, that’s how Fanny works. Fanny doesn’t start things and then doesn’t finish them, that’s not me.
I guess I can’t work for 6 weeks.
BUT: I’ve got Insurance to cover for that.
So, no, I won’t have to move back to my mum’s place.
And I won’t have to quit blogging. I might not post for the next six weeks. But I’ll sure be back when I can walk again. Like who was I thinking that this little stupid injury is going to take my biggest passion away from me. Nope, not with me. I’m gonna keep working!
Well, I guess I’m forced to do a little digital detox. Maybe I’ll figure out a way to post a couple pictures, maybe I won’t. My follower number might decrease but I am sure the people who actually care about my content will stay and the ones who don’t , well bye then. Why are you even still here?
And to all of you who are staying, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
To be honest, I don’t really care, well, that’s not exctaly correct. Of course I am trying to write a cook book that appeals to the crowd, however I am also doing this for myself, the imagination of holding my own book is just, unbelievable, seriously this is a dream come true for me. So if you like it or not it is gonna be published. If you decide to purchase my book, I am going to be insanely grateful. I would love to see people cooking my recipes and post them on Instagram or send me pictures via e-mail. Of course, it is one of the best feelings when someone tells you that they love your work, but at the end of the day I have to focus on myself and try to not always think about what others think, am I right?
I could go on and on with this post, however, I am pretty sure that I mentioned everything I had to. And you know what’s best about my situation? Well, from now on it can only get better. My leg will heal and after those six weeks of having been forced to refrain from my biggest passion I’ll be more motivated than ever.
So on this, note: Happy 2017! I wish you a wonderful start to the New Year. I know this is going to be a good one, finger’s crossed!
Bisous,

Herzlichen Gruss – Angela

Not that I’m writing my own cookbook or anything but in run super ambitiously and wanted to try to qualify for the Deutsche Meisterschaften this year. My start to the season was quite terrible cause I have had a oncogenes for the last five weeks and can’t run at all ?. So stay strong and you’ll manage it all! Gute Besserung
