Hey there,
Smoothies are a staple breakfast in my house, however, it can be hard to come up with a creative smoothie recipes during winter as the amount of available fruit is rather limited and I try to avoid buying tropical fruit as well. So all if left are basically apples, pears, oranges and clementines. All of which are delicious, yet not my usual smoothie add-ins.
How to make a tasty winter smoothie.
However, I was determined to create a delicious winter smoothie. I decided to settle for juicy orange and clementine and added in some vege for an extra boost of nutrients. Lastly I flavoured it all with cinnamon, turmeric and ginger to get those anti-inflammatory super powers in there. To add some additional sweetness I chucked in a date and I poured in a mix of almond milk and coconut milk to get the blender going and make this extra creamy.
My super power smoothie is now a staple.
The result of my winter smoothie experiment was just divine and it has definitely become a staple over the past months. Sometimes I even add some dark leafy greens to add some iron to this delicious mix of anti-inflammatories, carotene and Vitamin C.
