Hey there!
This is just going to be a quick post about a pretty basic recipe that people on Instagram ask for everytime I post it. I am talking about a basic green smoothie. My green smoothies are literally the least exciting thing ever. I do not add any fancy ingredients. I do not add any special nut milks. I don’t even add some kind of fancy green. Nope, my green smoothie literally just consisits of spinach or kale depending on the season, frozen bananas, a dash of vanilla, matcha and whatever kind of plantbased milk I have got on hand.
So as you see/read, my green smoothies are the most boring thing ever but I personally like them this way, plain and simple. Plus I prefer adding fancy toppings and eating my smoothie in form of a smoothie bowl instead of drinking it. I might add a few different nuts and seeds, some chopped fresh or dried fruit, granola or a dollop of chia pudding. The toppings I add really depend on what I feel like and what I have on hand. There are literally no limits.
I personally think when it comes to smoothies it is just important to have some kind of sweet ingredient as a base and then add whatever else you like. I usually use bananas for the sweet base as they also turn the smoothie super thick and creamy but you could also add dates or any other kind of sweet fruit. When it comes to smoothies I personally think there are no actual recipes, there are just ideas of combinations and as long as you like the ingredients you add you are most probably also going to enjoy the end result.
Anyways, despite the fact that I personally don’t see the point in a smoothie recipes I am still going to share my go-to green smoothie combo with you, so here you go:
- A big handful of spinach or kale or 2-3 cubes of frozen spinach
- 1-2 frozen bananas
- 1tsp matcha powder
- a dash of vanilla ( I use a vanilla paste, you could add fresh vanilla or vanilla essence)
- 150ml plantbased milk
- Add the spiach/kale and the soy milk into a blender and process until smooth.
- Add the frozen bananas, vanilla and the matcha powder and blend until smooth and creamy and there are no clumps left.
- Pour into your favourite bowl and top with whatever you fancy.
Voila. That’s how I make my boring, simple, yet truly delicious green smoothie bowls. But remember, be creative, just add whatever greens you like, add more fruit, add avocado, do whatever, there is no right or wrong!
Bisous
