Sunday Brunch at my favourite brunch place – Bebek in Zurich

Let’s talk about brunch, no, wait a second, let’s talk the best brunch in Zurich. To be truly honest with you all I prefer eating out for dinner over eating out for lunch, however, I somehow love the concept of brunching, especiellay brunching at Bebek. There’s just something about meeting up around midday on a Sunday to spend the day eating and chatting, I mean it doesn’t sound to bad does it?

 

Over the course of the past years Zurich has become a true brunch city, there’s places with brunch menus popping on every corner. There’s places that serve a fully vegan brunch, there are some that serve pancakes, some go all out and serve bacon and eggs, the options are endless. However, my favourite brunch place combines a typical Swiss Sunday breakfast with hints of the Middle East. There’s Zopf ( a typical Swiss yeast bread) but there’s flat bread too. There’s Birchermuesli and marinated Feta. There’s jam and hummus. Doesn’t this sound amazing! I mean there’s nothing over a traditional Swiss Sunday Breakfast, I might be biased but Zopf and Jam is just mmmmmm, mouthgasm guaranteed. Yet I absolutely love the combination of those traditional breakfast components with the middle-eastern flavours. Nevertheless, Bebek doesn’t only offer an amazing selection of food, they also have the coolest interior.

 

So I was asked whether I wanted to review this place for local.ch in regards to the upcoming Swiss Gastro award, so I was like hell yes, I’m gonna get brunch. So I decided to invite my sister and my best friend around for a Sunday Brunch day at Bebek and yes I mean Brunch Day, we literally sat there for six hours straight.

 

We ordered a bunch of different things such as hummus, mousaka, fruit salad, bread, jam… Just look at the photos and you’ll see what we got. Of course we also had coffee and the delicious fresh mint tea, which we all adore! However, I reccomend going in a group of six or more people and getting the Bebek Sundaybrunch, which is actually availbale on all days, not just Sundays. It costs 29.50 each and you get to eat however much you like, drinks aren’t included though. I still find this a very good deal. In regards to the general price range I would say Bebek is definitely not cheap, yet it is still on the more affordable side when looking at Zurich’s standard restaurant prices.

 

All of it was delicious, I mean it always is, Bebek’s just a winner when it comes to brunching. The only downside to Bebek is just that it is always fully booked and you have to book a table at least one week, if not more, in advance. I actually had to book two weeks in advance as the Sunday we intended to go was already fully booked. I find this kind of annoying to be honest, however this is the case with most restaurants in Zurich. So if you are ever travelling and you’re staying in Zurich and fancy trying a specific restaurant, make sure to book a table, especially if it’s the weekend.
