Chai spiced maple granola – for when I don’t feel like making fancy smoothie bowls or nicecream…

Hey there!

Recently one of my favourite breakfasts has been a fairly simple one. I haven’t been in a smoothie bowl nor in a nicecream mood recently. I’ve actually just been enjoying the pleasure of eating plain fruit topped with a dollop of soy yoghurt and to also add some crunch to the whole thing a sprinkle of granola on top. I am totally aware that granola is probably not the best option to go for in a balanced breakfast but I personally just love the taste and that is really what I care for in food. That is why I decided to make another batch of homemade granola as I will at least know the exact ingredients, which have been added. It might still be a tad sugary and yes plain oats might be better for you. But anyways I don’t really have to justify myself do I? I just felt like some homemade granola so I went ahead and made some.

I’ve actually got a completely sugar free version of a granola recipe on here, which you’ll find here: sugar free granola, yet for this one I went for a maple version as I really love the taste of maple syrup. I especially love it combined with walnuts and to spice it up a little I decided to add some chai tea as well as chai spices and trust me the outcome was just amazing!

I guess I’ll just give you the recipe. Here you go: easy chai spiced maple granola,

  • 100g millet flakes
  • 50g walnuts
  • 30g quinoa
  • 75ml strong chai tea
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ginger
  1. Preheat oven to 150°C. Chop up the walnuts (and if you happen to also use nuts form your own tree then obviously don’t forget to crack them open prior to chopping them…)
  2. Brew some chai tea.
  3. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well so all the ingredients are nicely distributed amongst each other and everything is covered in liquid.
  4. Spread your granola mixture on a lined baking sheet and bake for twenty minutes making sure to stir your mixture every five minutes to prevent it from burning.
  5. When your granola has finished baking remove it from the oven and let it cool down completely.

Voila now serve your granola with fresh fruit, yoghurt, milk or whatever else you fancy.

Well that was a short post for a change but I just haven’t got much else to say about this creation. I mean it is granola. It is yum. It is crunchy. It tastes great for breakfast.

    This granola looks so yummy! I love that you made it chai spiced, as I love the flavor but haven’t seen chai granola before! And who cares if granola is good or bad for you. I say if it tastes good… Eat it (in moderation ☺️)! Yummy post!

    Hi there:) I was wondering if I have to precook the quinoa or if it will be fine after baking? May be a liiittle stupid question, but I’m just not sure about it?
